Picked this up to keep a second tripod head ready without having to swap the base plate every time. The 75mm aluminium platform feels solid enough for my video rig. It would be a perfect solution if the locking knob was just a bit easier to tighten by hand.

ALTA PRO 3VRL LVL 30 - removable levelling base for Alta Pro 3VRL Tripods

Taking this column off when I don't need it is quick and tool-free, which makes switching setups on location much easier. It adds exactly the extra height I needed for getting above a crowd at a recent event, and it feels rock-solid once locked in.

ALTA PRO 3VRL CC 30 - central column for Alta Pro 3VRL Tripods

The 10kg capacity means my heavy telephoto setup doesn't make this head flinch, and the Arca plates lock in so smoothly it's almost satisfying. It handles my quick pan-and-tilt shots just as well as my precise landscape compositions.

VEO PH-38S ULTRA-VERSATILE ARCA COMPATIBLE 3-WAY PAN HEAD - 10kg load capacity

The aluminum build feels solid enough, but the pan movement isn't as smooth as I'd like when adjusting to track birds. It holds my scope steady once locked down, though I wish the tension knob had a bit more range. Fine for the price but not premium.

VEO PH-28 ARCA COMPATIBLE 2-WAY PAN HEAD FOR SPOTTING SCOPES ON FULL SIZED TRIPODS

The removable levelling base with the separate flat platform made setup on uneven ground so much easier than my old tripod. At 25kg capacity, it feels rock solid even with my heavy camcorder rig.
